Duncan Moore – Helping Golfers Train Smarter & Improve Faster

For over 25 years, I’ve been dedicated to helping golfers unlock their full potential. Golf isn’t just a game to me - it’s a lifelong passion, and my mission is to help others experience the joy of improvement.

I started playing golf at 15 and turned professional just three years later at 18. As a PGA Professional, I’ve worked with golfers at every level, from beginners to elite competitors, and one thing has always been clear: most players don’t know how to practice effectively.

That’s why I’ve devoted my career to changing the way golfers train, ensuring that their time spent practicing actually leads to measurable progress and real results on the course.

My Journey in Golf – From Player to Coach to Innovator

I have always felt completely immersed in the sport, playing competitively and constantly striving to refine my own game. Early in my career, I became obsessed with understanding what makes golfers improve. I spent years studying swing mechanics, performance psychology, and training disciplines, always searching for ways to bridge the gap between practice and on-course success.

Through coaching, I realised that so many golfers - whether weekend players or aspiring tour professionals - were practicing without purpose, often reinforcing bad habits rather than developing real, repeatable skills. I knew there had to be a better way. This realisation led me to redefine golf practice and develop a system that focuses on three key elements: strike quality, directional control, and the held finish.

The Birth of Shots Gained – A Structured Path to Improvement

I created Shots Gained to give golfers a clear, structured system that eliminates wasted range sessions and replaces them with deliberate, results-driven training. This isn’t about blindly hitting balls - it’s about tracking progress, understanding patterns, and building a repeatable swing that holds up under pressure. The methodology I’ve developed is designed to work for every golfer, whether you’re picking up a club for the first time or competing at the highest level.

What makes Shots Gained different is that it’s built on real practice discipline - not just theory. It provides the accountability and structure that traditional practice lacks, helping you stay focused and motivated while seeing tangible improvements in your game. If you’ve ever felt like you’re practicing without a clear plan, this system will change the way you train forever.

Why Has Golf Improvement Been So Slow?

Despite massive advancements in equipment, technology, and coaching methods, the average amateur golfer has only improved by around two strokes in the last 25 years. Data from the USGA shows that the average male handicap has decreased from 16.3 to 14.4 in that time. While that might seem like progress, it’s surprisingly small compared to the technological evolution in the sport.

Golfers continue to spend time hitting balls without structure, failing to track progress, and reinforcing the same mistakes - this is the reason so many struggle to see real improvement.

Shots Gained was created to break this cycle. By implementing a structured discipline with clear feedback loops, golfers can finally start seeing consistent progress in their game. If you train with purpose, you can gain more strokes than the average golfer has in decades.
